Register a domain name. This is a yearly registration and can vary depending on the domain registrar. Affordable Web Design Ltd. is affiliated with a large Canadian based Registrar who offers 7-day a week support. The cost is CAD$25 for a .com, .net and .org, .biz, .mobi and .tel , and CAD$30 for a .ca. We will do everything for you to register and set up the new domain name IN YOUR NAME. Once you pay for the domain name, you own it. There are some low cost domain registry websites out there, but you have to do everything yourself, sometimes on very confusing sites, usually with no support! So for the slight difference in yearly fees, most of our clients much prefer to let us do it all!

Set up a hosting account. Hosting can vary greatly and most sites charge in U.S. dollars, even if they are Canadian sites (most average between $10 and $25 a month). Affordable Web Design Ltd. charges CAD$10 per month for an average website, payable on a yearly basis (CAD$120 fee at the time of sign-up, for one full year). This also includes full support and full email service with up to 10 email addresses.

Have your website created. The cost of this step can vary greatly, depending on who you choose as a web designer and what you want in your web design. Affordable Web Design Ltd. is highly competitive among professional web designers. With Affordable Web Design Ltd, your website is a one-time cost only, and only further updates and maintenance will be charged at an hourly rate. We offer custom websites starting at $960.00, based on a 12-hour time frame for a good solid but basic web design including the incorporation of all the necessary search engine parameters as published by Search Engines such as Google).
- Exception: should you decide to choose a BASIC BUSINESS BUNDLE, the package rate is $500.00 + tax and includes hosting for one year and a 4-page website (no credit for hosting portion of the Basic Business Bundle if hosting is placed with a third party).
CURRENTLY HAVE AN EXISTING DOMAIN NAME AND HOSTING SOMEWHERE ELSE?
Affordable Web Design Ltd. is still very pleased to create your website for you and you may continue your domain name registration and/or hosting with a third party if you wish. We do not force anyone to switch to us for domain name registration or hosting, although everyone is more than welcome to do so if they wish!
APPROXIMATE TOTAL COST
As explained above and based on a basic "12-hour" design + one domain name + hosting, you are looking at approximately $1100 plus applicable taxes. The web design portion is a one-time fee but the domain name and hosting are renewable on a yearly basis.
If the client desires special programming such as an interactive calendar, content management systems that allow then to look after their own website content, photo galleries, catalogues, shopping carts, etc, each of these applications will add to the basic costs, but Affordable Web Design Ltd. keeps all of those additional costs to the lowest level possible. |
