If someone tells you that they can rank your site by just putting in keywords into the code, they are living in the past. What are Search Engines and what do they do?
A Search Engine is a computer based process which searches for certain information on all the websites in the world, then "ranks" them in accordance to certain requirements. A true Search Engine (such as Google, Excite, Alta Vista, HotBot, Lycos, Bing and Ask Jeeves) has automated programs, usually called "robots, "spiders" or "crawlers", which search and index all the websites in the world. Another kind of "search engine", which is actually called a directory (such as Yahoo, AOL and MSN), is one which is manned by people and is not automated.
The way the search engines index sites can vary among the different search engines such that the same search with different engines will yield different results.
So what all of this means in plain language is that if you want your website to be found by people searching the net for certain products or services, you need to deal with someone who understands the search parameters and what needs to be put into your website both in its "behind-the-scenes" code as well as in the body of the website itself.
